Validation
of Stakeholder Input
One
of the most important items the Leadership Advisory Board does with
the Texas AgriLife Extension Service is ensuring that programs provided
to the citizens of Texas are relevant. With the advent of the Leadership
Advisory Boards in 2007, one of their major roles is to help provide
direction and focus for the county program by ensuring that educational
programs are reaching the needs of local audiences. The next “official”
Leadership Advisory Board Validation of Stakeholder Input will be
in late Fall 08 – Spring 09. This process has taken the place
of the Texas Community Futures Forum. Below are a user's guide,
cover letter, screen shot, and set of frequently asked questions
to assist agents during the validation process.

Below
is a set of Frequently Asked Questions agents may encounter during
the validation process. In addition, answers to each of the questions
are listed below.
1.
Should I talk to my Program Area Committee / Youth Board / Task
Force / Coalition and get their input?
- YES! You should try and get their feedback before the LAB Meeting.
Make it a point to share their thoughts with the LAB when discussing
your program(s). Their input should be very valuable to the LAB
when helping you vision for future programs.
2.
Should we highlight TCFF issues from 2004?
- You can if you want, but do not feel compelled to do so. The agency
is transitioning to the Leadership Advisory Board providing this
long term issue identification. So, instead of focusing on TCFF
issues, it is best to focus on the outcome programs that are being
implemented in the county. Use the strategic plans as a guide.
3.
Can we add other issues / programs that are important to the county
that may have not been an outcome program?
- YES, sometimes an issue surfaces that must get addressed in a
short time frame. Thus, it is not necessarily in your plan of work
as an outcome program. So, you will just need to present it to the
LAB so they are aware of it. Then, when completing the process online,
you will need to add it as an issue and the program name.
4.
Can I make changes to the county strategic plan?
- YES! We are providing these in Microsoft Word so you can make
edits as needed.
5.
Can we get the strategic plans in Word Perfect?
- YES! Please contact Chris Boleman if you need your file in Word
Perfect. Ct-boleman@tamu.edu
6.
How important is it to identify new issues?
- This is extremely important because it helps the agency determine
new programs that it should consider when moving forward. Please
make sure the LAB spends some time thinking about this, but also
keep in mind the program areas of the agency. In other words, does
it fit within the agency’s mission and vision?
- The first time we did this process, we probably did’t spend
a sufficient amount of time identifying new items. Part of this
was because we were trying to wrap up previous TCFF issues and programs.
So, please make sure the LAB spends some time thinking through new
issues.
7.
Is it okay to share new issues that may have been identified by
Program Area Committee / Youth Board / Task Force / Coalition and
get their input?
- YES! If these other planning groups identify new issues, it is
perfectly acceptable to share these ideas and thoughts with the
LAB.
8. Where did the county strategic plans come from?
- The strategic
plans were developed from data placed in the TExAS plans.
Below
is a screen shot that illustrates exactly what will be online for
agents to access to during the validation process.
